EFA NEWSLETTER AUGUST

EFA thanks the Chair of the European Resuscitation Council, Dr. Federico Semeraro, for his constant commitment and ongoing collaboration with EFA, to make Europe a safer place to live. Below one of the latest Dr Semeraro post:

“A major step forward for road safety and life-saving skills in Europe.
The latest article in Resuscitation highlights how the joint initiative of the ERC European Resuscitation Council and the EFA European Driving Schools Association European Driving Schools Association is shaping the future of driver education: integrating BLS and CPR into driving school curricula.
A European survey revealed that only 39% of countries currently require CPR training to obtain a driving licence. Thanks to ERC and EFA advocacy, the European Parliament has already included mandatory CPR training in the new Driving Licence Directive, expected to be adopted in 2025.

For more and more uses, electric HDVs are matching diesel vehicles on the total cost of ownership. Yet many banks still perceive e-HDVs as high-risk investments, keeping interest rates high and limiting their cost-competitiveness compared to diesel trucks.

Join us for the next #RAPKnowledgeLive session to explore how bicycle and pedestrian flow data can transform road safety and mobility planning. Flow data provides a powerful foundation for understanding where people walk and cycle, helping cities design safer, more efficient, and more comfortable networks.

This session will showcase practical ways to integrate flow data into safety assessments, policy, and design, with examples from cities like Barcelona and others.

One highlighted approach will be Don Quixote (DQ) flows — a predictive model developed to estimate bicycle and pedestrian movements across entire networks. Coordinated by Roxy Tacq, DQ flows combine open geographic data with behavioural modelling to help governments worldwide make smarter, data-driven decisions. Read more about
