Ex-post Evaluation of the Directive 2006/126/EC
The report presenting the results of the ex post evaluation of the Directive 2006/126/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on driving licences was recently published.
The EFA Board met with ETSC to discuss how the Driving Licence Directive can be integrated. A series of meetings with DG Move will start shortly to try to insert a training model more focused on road safety and hazard perception. EFA President, Enrique Lorca comments: “Before Christmas we have already met the Commission, anticipating some of the studies and evidence supporting the good job made in a lot of European driving schools. We believe that the training of aware drivers goes through high quality training. Everywhere everyone agrees that e-learning from school to university is less effective than face-to-face training Why should it be different in drivers training? Perhaps the safety of our young drivers is worth less?”
