BrainSigns Study: Prof. Fabio Babiloni’s interview
BrainSigns is a spin-off company of the Sapienza University of Rome. The company, starting from a solid scientific knowledge in the analysis of signals produced by the functioning of the brain, has developed innovative applications in different fields: Neuromarketing, evaluation of the impact of the Human Factor in operational and everyday contexts, Neuroergonomics and testing of prosthetic medical devices. BrainSigns has also been working on road safety for several years and recently completed a study on cognitive attention, assessing the level of attention and comprehension of driving school students during a theory lesson, comparing the in-person and remote modes.

Ex-post Evaluation of the Directive 2006/126/EC
The report presenting the results of the ex post evaluation of the Directive 2006/126/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on driving licences was recently published.
EFA Board
The EFA Board met with ETSC to discuss how the Driving Licence Directive can be integrated. A series of meetings with DG Move will start shortly to try to insert a training model more focused on road safety and hazard perception. EFA President, Enrique Lorca comments: “Before Christmas we have already met the Commission, anticipating some of the studies and evidence supporting the good job made in a lot of European driving schools. We believe that the training of aware drivers goes through high quality training. Everywhere everyone agrees that e-learning from school to university is less effective than face-to-face training Why should it be different in drivers training? Perhaps the safety of our young drivers is worth less?”
UK – Changes to The Highway Code: hierarchy of road users
News from UK: from 29 January rules for all types of road users will be updated in The Highway Code to improve the safety of people walking, cycling and riding horses. As a professional trainer or instructor, you know how important it is to stay up to date with the Highway Code.
Driving tests: improving availability and processes
Interesting DVSA initiative to improve the licensing system in the UK: Proposals to improve the availability of driving tests, give learner drivers better information about driving instructors and modernise some test processes. The consultation closes at 11:59 pm on 8 March 2022.
EFA at the Roads & Traffic Expo Middle East
On 17-18 May 2022 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center there will be the Big Trade Expo for the entire road transport ecosystem in the middle east. The Roads and Traffic Expo ME is designed to inspire and encourage knowledge exchange and to showcase disruptive solution providers who promise world-class excellence and infrastructure delivery. EFA’s General Secretary will take the floor at the Conference.

ENSEMBLE project – Final Event
On 17 March from 10:00-15:30, live-streamed online, there will be the showcase of the project results. ENSEMBLE’s ambition is to take important steps of technological research before full deployment of multi-brand truck platooning. The project wants to communicate the economic, societal and environmental impact of decisions surrounding platoon forming and dissolving.
