Austrian Driving Teachers Day and Federal Examiners Day 2020 is the largest driving licence event
- More traffic safety through training of assistance systems such as truck right-turn assistants, more climate protection through e-cars and eco-driving
- Specialists from six countries studied the Austrian model of joint further training for driving instructors and driving license examiners
The interest of driving teachers and examiners to take part in a joint training day every year is unbroken high. At what is meanwhile the largest driving license event in Austria and Europe of this kind, 700 driving license experts met on the driving safety center in Spielberg, the place of a Formula 1 circuit. Technical developments, vehicles with low fuel consumption, electromobility or driver assistance systems – for cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses or tractors – were presented and tested. We are thematically up to date and make innovations and current trends known to training and testing personnel, such as the truck right-turn assistant. Driving school teachers and examiners were trained in common lecture rooms in theory and used together vehicles for test rides. This is unique in this form and an international showcase project.

In addition to Austrian driving license experts, participants from five countries were also present, reports Herbert Wiedermann, chairman of the Association of Driving Schools and the General. Driving schools Associations from Estonia, Germany, Moldova, Russia, Spain and Peru. This shows that the Austrian Driving Schools Association and the Austrian Transport Ministry (BMK) have successfully developed a three-day international model project for the sixth time.
The driving teachers and the examiners day has become a platform for international dialogue in recent years. Last year, the breakthrough came in discussions with the EU Commission on the question of making it easier to delete Code 78 (restriction to automatic). The EU Commission now deals with the question of the deletion of Code 78 since then more flexibly, is Stefan Ebner, director of the Austrian Driving Schools Association, proud of this successful initiative. Electromobility in driving schools should be promoted. The Austrian multi-phase training with a driver safety training and feedback rides after the first issue of the license is a role model in Europe, too. Representatives of the international delegations used this year’s stay in Austria to increase their specialist knowledge in lecture sessions in order to this training concept in their countries.
